Moulin Rouge! The Musical Tickets - Piccadilly Theatre

Based on Baz Luhrmann's Academy Award-winning movie of the same name, Moulin Rouge! The Musical has cemented itself into the West End, at the Piccadilly Theatre.

The popular jukebox musical had already enjoyed huge success on Broadway with its eclectic pop score featuring hits from a whole catalogue of stars including Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Elton John to name but a few, and is fast becoming one of the most popular musicals of the 21st Century.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is set in the Montmartre Quarter in Paris and follows Christian, a lovesick writer who takes his seat inside the Moulin Rouge where he is greeted by Satine. As things progress, their lives collide epically as the pair grow closer together in a world packed full of extravagance where pretty much anything goes.

Although the show winds back the clock to a hedonistic age in the famous Parisian cabaret bar, the music in the show is a collection of modern pop hits that seamlessly incorporates over 20 hit songs from a host of international artists including U2, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and Queen.

In 2001, Luhrmann's original film premiered starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman in the roles of Christian and Satine respectively and there had been much speculation as early as 2002 that a stage version was in the pipeline. It wasn't until 15 years later though, in 2017 for the first workshop took place, with director Alex Timbers joining the project along with writer John Logan,

The show finally made it to the stage with a pre-Broadway world-premiere engagement that wowed audiences at Boston's Emerson Colonial Theatre with a limited engagement in the summer of 2018 before heading to Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, officially opening on 25th July 2019. There are so many reasons to see Moulin Rouge! The Musical, so why not take a trip down to the Piccadilly Theatre and find out why!

How Can I Book Cheap Tickets At The Piccadilly Theatre?

If you are bargain hunting for tickets at the Piccadilly Theatre then it is recommended to avoid both weekends, school holidays and any other peak periods throughout the year as prices for performances during these times will be high and are unlikely to go down anytime soon! For midweek performances during off-peak weeks though there is value to be found moving forward and studying the seating plan to look for the different price bands and where they cut off can pay dividends.

Do They Ever Discount Tickets At The Piccadilly Theatre?

It is rare to find any official discount tickets at the Piccadilly Theatre if there is a big show playing as demand is still very strong however if you are flexible with dates and can book for midweek performances to see the show during the weeks following school holidays then discounts could become available through decent online operators and the official retail outlets in and around Leicester Square.

Should Upper Circle Tickets At The Piccadilly Theatre Be Avoided?

The second floor of the Piccadilly Theatre has several different price bands and very few seats that feature a restricted view of the stage so even though you are quite high up, there is value to be found for upper circle tickets if you take the time to study the seating plan before purchase. Very often it is possible to make big savings on the price of your ticket by looking for the cut-off points in the seating plan for the different price bands as two seats next to each other could have as much as a 30% difference in the price!

Will There Be Any Additional Fees When I Book Tickets At The Piccadilly Theatre?

This can depend on when and where you book your tickets. By purchasing tickets directly from the box office at the Piccadilly Theatre there should be no booking fees attached as you are buying effectively from the source. By booking through a third party such as a website or retail outlets there could be booking fees attached as during peak periods such as weekends and school holidays the producers will charge full price to the agents who will then have to add on a booking fee to make a profit.
During quiet periods though then the opposite is the case as the theatre will sell to agents at a negotiated discount which can then in turn be passed onto the customer. It is always advisable that when booking online or through a retail outlet you check that they are members of the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers (STAR) which should be marked. This will ensure full transparency for all sales and give peace of mind.

The Piccadilly Theatre is a medium size West End theatre located on Denman Street close to Piccadilly Circus and has three levels with a capacity of 1185 seats.

Premium seats in the theatre are located throughout the Stalls section which benefits from the excellent rake in the seating. Seats located in the middle and centre in rows G-H have a particularly good view of the entire stage. Another good vantage point can be found in the front rows of the Royal Circle for a great elevated view of the action.

Value can be found for bargain hunters searching for lastminute tickets in both the front and rear rows of each section and exploiting the cut-off points in the price bands. An example can be found in row E of the Royal Circle which is just a single row behind the premium seats, offering pretty much the same view for a fraction of the price! Seats located in the Grand Circle and towards the rear of the Stalls are also often discounted yet still mostly offer a clear view of the stage and will suit patrons looking to book cheap Moulin Rouge tickets.
